Mustang Sally- Wilson Picket

So of course I gave in and brought my computer. Was there really doubt? I’ve made the executive decision to combine the NASCAR race and the first day of mine and Burles’s road trip.

Sarah, Michelle and I got a late start to the race on Sunday, but after a day of tailgating for the Dawgs and then sitting in the sun for the game, we were okay with that. When we finally made it to everyone else, there was a spot right next to them! It was perfect!

Disclaimer: Some of these pictures were stolen from Sarah. I was struggling with the documentation, which is a darn shame because there was plenty to document.

We saw this car on our way to the race track. Note to my friends: it’s spelled hitCHed. Please don’t misspell this on my get-away car. Muy importante.

First thing we saw when we got there. Yep. They took the backseat out of their car and put it on the ground.

Great place to tailgate.

Yes, I own the best 2 coozies ever.

All of those RVs were insane!

Gentlemen, start your engines!

I am totally OBSESSED with this picture Sarah took. If only it were Sanford, instead of Atlanta Motor Speedway.

Admission: the race got a little boring. I picked Denny Hamlin as my driver and he led the first 75 laps until his engine blew up and he was out. Sad day.

But there was some good people-watching. Sarah got all of these because I was busy. Drinking.

Michelle and I went and met up with Claire and Jami. I haven’t seen Jami in FOREVER so it was good to see her, even if it was for just a few minutes. (Oh, and I was told that this was supposed to be a funny picture. Obvi.)

Tony Stewart ended up winning. (I think.) I know it was number 24. (Wrong. It was number 14. Jeff Gordon is 24. At least I got the 4 right.)

The race virgins. No longer!

In conclusion, I had fun, but I was mad that Denny Hamlin got out so fast. I probably would have had more fun if my driver hadn’t been out with 2/3 of the race left. But I’m not going to say I would never do it again.

Okay, now moving on to part 1 of mine and Burles’s road trip. After not getting back to Sarah’s house until 3 after the race, I woke up around 6:15 to shower and head to Caroline’s house to head out. Our goal was Kansas City and I am glad to say we made it in time for the Boise State/Virginia Tech game and the Real Housewives of New Jersey reunion.

Confession: after I took this picture, I feel asleep for most of Tennessee.

Woke up just in time for Kentucky.

Confession: I really like to take pictures of bridges.

Love this sight! Gateway to the West!

Last state for the day!

We ended up in Kansas City eating a meal in honor Sarah, who I had just left not 24 hours earlier. Barbeque’d beef brisket sandwiches and cheese fries.

And tomorrow, I get to cross Nebraska off my state list! Whooo!!

SaNford, Sloaner. And Tony Stewart is 14. Jeff Gordon is 24. And Jeff Gordon certainly did not win it. Otherwise I would have cried
